Big things are in the air this time of year. Winter is almost over and Spring is on the horizon. We still have sleds, heaters and dog blankets (jackets actually). We also insulation for pipes and covers for outdoor faucets if you still need them. Winter Carhartt is still available too - jackets, long sleeve shirts, toboggan hats and thermals and more.

But if you're done with winter and looking ahead to warmer times, we've got great things in store for you. For gardeners, most of our vegetable seeds are in the store now. Fruit trees and berry bushes aren't far behind (sometime this week actually). We also have Bonnie plants for this time of year on our shelves. Of course, right now is perfect for seed potatoes, onion sets, broccoli, and cauliflower.

If you're thinking about your lawn, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First should be Pre-emergent. We have Fertilome's Step 1 - Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food in both a 20 and 40 pound bag covering 5k or 10k square feet respectively. We also have Hy-Yield's Turf & Ornamental Weed & Grass Stopper in 35 and 12 pound bags with the same coverage.

If you have some "dead" spots you'd like to have covered until you're able to reseed, we have rye grass that will do the trick for this time of year. KY31, Creeping Red and Titan turf-type fescue are in stock too, but it's a bit early for those.

For all of the above, you should really be thinking about getting your soil tested. We have the soil sample packets here at the store. The County Extension Agent will send your sample to UGA and they will send you a printout of what your yard or garden needs to be its healthiest.

We also have the tools you need to help your garden grow. AM Leonard has top of the line lawn tools including pruners, shovels, rakes and more. Don't forget gloves and aprons.

Of course, if yard work isn't your bag, we offer Lawn Maintenance service as well as installations. Let us do the work and you enjoy the benefits!

I think the beginning of Spring is filled with anticipation and excitement. I, for one, can hardly wait for it to get here. We look forward to seeing you at Lavender Mountain Hardware & Garden. Let's have a great year together.

Sincerely,

I'm really looking forward to the 2014 Year. We here at Lavender Mountain Hardware & Garden have seen our share of ups and downs this year, but we always remain focused on customer service and providing our community with a "down home" hardware store where no one is a stranger.

We have an exciting year ahead of us. As always, our Garden Center (IMHO) remains the best place to come for all your garden needs. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff is headed by Candace Galbreath; our Garden Center Manager. She introduced the "Fairy Garden" concept to Lavender Mountain Hardware and the accessories, ideas and fun keep on growing. I look forward to seeing what new things she has in store for us in 2014.

Evan Moreno and his Green Services crew continues to provide exemplary service to our customers with their offering of lawn maintenance and design installations. A growing field for Lavender Mountain Hardware & Garden, we expect an even bigger year for Green Services as our customers discover the kind of quality service and support that we deliver.

As always, you can't come to Lavender Mountain Hardware & Garden and not see our Gift Area. You can find all kinds of things for whatever the occasion may be. We still have our tried and true gift items such as the ever popular Corinthian Bells and Soy Candles. We also get in new things all the time. And best of all, our gift area changes with the seasons; so you can always find something new at the store.

With all that we offer, how can I not look forward to the 2014 year. I think we have a little bit of everything for anyone. I hope we see you this year, and often. So hello 2014! We're here for you!

Sincerely,
This is where we purchase a lot of the cool items that we sale in our store. For those of you who don't know, Atlanta has one of the largest Wholesale Gift Markets in the United States. There are 4 HUGE BUILDINGS, with 18 floors covering an entire block in downtown Atlanta and over 3000 vendors. It can be overwhelming. (we get lost a lot).

The vendors range from large multi million dollar companies to someone like Moe's BBQ Sauces run by a couple from Cartersville, GA. We are always searching for products made in Georgia to support our local economy. We get asked a lot about how we decide what to purchase for Lavender Mountain - its simple, we have to be genuinely excited about the product before we put it in the store. This usually works, if we love it our customers will too.

New Spring arrivals for Lavender Mountain will include, Mad Mats, outdoor rugs made from recycled plastic, Ibis & Orchid marble night lights, Striplings Beef Jerky (made in Georgia), Picnic At Ascot collapsible coolers and picnic baskets, Swann Creek soy candles, Angela's Garden hats, gloves, aprons, Pretty Tools and lots of iron garden arches, benches, tables, and wall art all from Iron It Out located in Canton, GA. All of us in Rome and Armuchee have very vivid memories of the blizzard in '93. Because of this, Lavender Mountain Hardware & Garden had record sales the weekend before the snow. We sold out of rock salt, snow melt, anything that would melt snow and ice, all fuels and fuel burning heaters, batteries, flashlights, candles and sleds. We could have sold 100 sleds. Propane, was our biggest seller, over 2000 gallons in two days. Everyone in Armuchee should be able to heat their grill all summer. Last night the big Do It Best Truck pulled in with stock to replenish our shelves. We now have all those items we sold out of last weekend including sleds. There's still snow on the ground - grab a sled and have some fun.Your Friends at Lavender Mountainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00993943926729763570noreply@blogger.com4
